A complete Beginners Manual for Ubuntu, featuring comprehensive guides, howTos and information on anything you need to know after first installing Ubuntu.

Designed to be as user-friendly and easy to follow as possible, it should provide the first point of reference to any Ubuntu newcomer with lots of information in one easy to access PDF file. Plus, every six months there will be a new revision released to coincide with each new release of Ubuntu.

Goals for the guide:

- Well written, easy to follow
- Professional looking
- Detailed, but not overwhelming
- Revisions every 6 months

1- Sign-in with your launchpad account.
https://launchpad.net/+login
2- Go to the translation page of Ubuntu-Manual.
https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu-manual

3- Select Arabic language & start translating.

i don't think you must be of the team to translate but you can join the team from:
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-manual (https://launchpad.net/%7Eubuntu-manual)

in the translation you may find strange text containing ( / { } ) don't care about it
this text is there cause they are using something called Latex (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LaTeX) to create this document
translate the normal text only.

i think we have 150 object to translate now but there will be more.

You may find some text already translated try to review it, & if you want to translate
new text & your are not sure about your translation you can select Someone should review this translation
so it would be easy to track our unfinished business, it seems difficult but it's not believe me.

if there is any question i am here :p

hey zero-n
it seems that translation is not open to everyone as before, right?
this page (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ArabicTranslationTeam/NewTranslator) suggest reading other materials and going throu long process to start translating, i am not interested in joining the arabic translating team(because i dont have time to read their manual ) .but i will love to be able to suggest translations and select "someone should review this" so the translation team members can approve or reject, if i can do that let me know.

thank you
bye

No you can start translating without joining Ubuntu Arabic Translators team.

what is going on is the translation of this manual is assigned to Ubuntu Arabic Translators but you still add translation if you want.

no one off Ubuntu Arabic Translators team have done anything to this manual until now.

Open Arabic language page and you will see this message at the bottom:

You have full access to this translation.

so enjoy translating without any ....... :D

i checked again, there is no You have full access to this translation. at the bottom of the page. so i guess i have to join first?!
i think you have access because you created the arabic translation.
this is what i see at the bottom of my page
This template can be translated only by its managers.

later!

ejlal
January 16th, 2010, 10:19 PM
its not a problem, they made rules because they are trying to organize and control the arabic translations.which is a good thing. i understand why they are doing this(making rules). but i wish if they allow us to suggest translations, and then they can either approve or reject. that way we will help and their job will be easier and faster.

zero-n
January 16th, 2010, 10:25 PM
I have send email to Benjamin Humphrey

i hope he will response by tomorrow

your opinion is absolutely right suggestion will help them alot but after they are assigned to this project

nothing is happened

i am the only active translator now

so where they are ?
