I'm trying to download and install the Nvidia graphics driver v 185/173 through the hardware drivers utilities in the latest and updated Ubuntu Linux. The update will not download even though I have established an internet connection. The system monitor shows 0 - 50 Bytes/s slowly receiving but I don't see the update interface that shows status of the download. I'm burning up a lot of CPU and the installing driver progress bar is stuck at the beginning.
I know there are many ways of installing the drivers, but I was hoping to make it easy on myself as I am new to Linux. Would someone please help /point me in the right direction?
I've downloaded the drivers from Nvidia also, but I can't figure out how to do it that way because there is too much information out there on topic. Thanks.
