I'm using an Acer Aspire M1640

I can't install 9.10 as my mouse and keyboard won't work, read more about it Here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1371200).

I can install 8.10 but to install it I have to do it with nopaic enabled, so I do that, after installation it reboots and I'm presented with Grub. I select the default Ubuntu, but it still complains about my needing to have noapic enabled. I can't see any obvious options to enable it. I've looked through the command line commands, and turned up nothing.

So if you know how to make my keybaord and mouse work with 9.10 please do ( 9.10 doesn't require noapic ). Otherwise I need to know how to boot into 8.10 either with noapic on or off, I just want a successful boot. Also if anyone knows why I need to enable noapic please tell me.

i would try another distro.. there are loads of live CDs available.
Linux Mint - though this is essentially Ubuntu,

Mepis 8 is a nice fast solid distro, but the KDE3, though rock solid, is looking a bit old. mind you, so is Gnome !
i would test a few distros to see if youe kb / mouse works in any other first -before you go tweaking BIOS settings ?
