Hello,

The current partition I'm running Ubuntu in is destined for death on the next update because:

All the entries in GRUB for this partition of Ubuntu have been renamed MEPIS when I installed Mepis and its GRUB on another drive; it rewrote the entire MBR. But, more importantly, MEPIS' GRUB got rid of the option RECOVERY MODE from my list of Ubuntu entries in GRUB.

Now I need Recovery Mode because: Every time I get a major update, it wipes out my entire X-Window system. See, I'm running a PROPRIETARY DRIVER for my ATI Rodeon Video Card, and the only way to get good screen resolution for 900x1600 is to use this proprietary driver.

In order to get in and reinstall this driver, which I have to do everytime the Update asks me to restart, I have to go into RECOVERY MODE to get into any kind of X-window session.

Question: How do I get Recovery Mode back into GRUB?

I have 2 HD's and 3 partitions: HD0 is: Ubuntu 8.04 64 bit, and Ubuntu 8.04 64 bit, and then HD2 is: Mepis.

Thank you.
