Hi, I am using two OS. Installed Ubuntu 9.10 and Windows XP side by side. Ubuntu is installed in the largest continuous free space after making a new partition. Installation did not show any errors at all. After the restart, I was able to login. But, after some 5-8 seconds, the system froze. The cursor did not move, key board did not respond either. System hung! I waited for 10 minutes or so, but things did not improve. I restarted to find the same result. I cannot access internet too, because I am using a DSL cable and I am yet to configure it. So, I can use the net only from windows.

Again, I tried to run the live cd. The same error occured. So, is it beause of a damage cd? If so, then why was not there an installation error?

my system configuration :

Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU
E2180 @ 2.00GHz
1.99GHz, .99 GB of RAM

What are my options?
Since I cannot access Terminal, how can I help the system?

Do you get the same error if booting with a 9.04 live CD?
