Blackberry problems following Karmic Upgrade

I had barry backup etc installed and running with no problems under 9.04. Following an upgrade to Karmic Koala, my blackberry storm is not found. It will appear as a mass storage device and can be browsed but if I try to sync, use btool etc I get a Device not found error. Has anyone had a similar problem, or can anyone give a hint as to the problem
