So, I've had alot of problems with my current setup. I'll be getting a new hard drive soon, and am going to install either Karmic or Debian fresh on it, but I'd like to have multiple distros on my pc. Trying to think of the best way to do this.
My first thought was to have most of my new hard drive be an ext partition purely for my files, then use smaller partitions for the OSs themselves. I could mount this partition to /home/media/ or something as it would mostly hold my music, movies, rom files, ect. Currently about 500gbs worth of stuff.
Then, I'd create a new small partition for each operating system I wanted to install. I was thinking one for Karmic, One for Debian Stable, and one for Sidux, as I'm interested in trying it.
How could I benefit from using an LVM? Also, as a separate question, I know alot of people here use separate home partitions, would this continue to work well if I had multiple distributions installed?
