Dear community,

I have a booting problem with the latest 2.6.31 kernels (2.6.31-16-generic and 2.6.31-17-generic).
It won't boot due to the following error: "/scripts/init-top/brltty 19 : grep not found".

I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 x64.
The system works fine if I boot on the 2.6.31-15-generic kernel.
grep can be found in /bin/grep under this kernel

I tried to delay the boot adding "rootdelay=90", but it didn't solve the problem.
The "recovery mode" of kernels 31-16 and 31-17 do not work neither.

Do you have any suggestions to fix the problem?

I completely removed all the new kernels (newer than 2.6.31-15-generic) and then re-installed it again.

Now I don't have the "/scripts/init-top/brltty 19 : grep not found" but the kernel 2.6.31-19-generic doesn't find the root.

It stays a long time in "waiting for root..." and then write something like
2682d42f-7e1b-4f38-b08d-075d4875a92c does not exist
But it works with 2.6.31-15-generic kernel... what's wrong with the newer kernels?

I have the same problem. I would appreciate if you tell how did you recovery the kernel, I think that you could only did that in a chroot mode using a Live CD of Ubuntu 9.10.
I need some help to do this. Thanks.
