Hi all, I have no desire to ever have anything to do with windows in my personal computing environment and my machine is single user. Can I remove samba without any ill effects???

TIA,

Depends somewhat on what you mean by 'ill effects', but yes, you can remove samba. You won't be able to access Windows computers on a network, but that's the worst effect I know of. I've deleted it before, and could see no other effects, and after reinstalling it, it worked.

By 'ill effects' I mean somehow disable ANY part of my ubuntu! I see that it's tied into nautilus so I don't want to break it. I use thunar by default but don't want to chase any ghosts!

Thanks!
