I just installed xubuntu-desktop, and I'm loving Xfce, but in the process the boot splash screen and login screen are changed to resemble Xubuntu. Is there a way to select between the original and new boot and login screens?

Aw, c'mon now, dontchya think the fireflies are cool? I love that animated splash...

I don't think you can switch between them, but I do think that either splash can be removed or added using Synaptic.

I love the fireflies, but I'd still at least like the regular boot screen. The login screen is fine :)

Oh well, thank you anyway. Maybe I can find instructions on how to install custom boot splash screens somewhere.
