View Full Version : [ubuntu] After upgrade to 9.10: slow boot, slow web, slowly crashes

January 2nd, 2010, 04:50 AM
I installed 9.04 because I had problems installing 9.10 onto my Windows 7 Toshiba Satellite A100 laptop. I tested 9.04 and it worked fine. I upgraded all the packages, and then upgraded the distro to 9.10 with no issues.

Now when I boot I get a long (2-3 minute) pause with only:

"Boot from (hd0,5) d4ba1c87-613f-...........etc etc) on the screen.

Once I get to Ubuntu, everything works for a while, but is very slow, and gets slower with time, then things gradually stop working: first the wireless mouse, then the wireless connection, then the mouse pad. Even reboot won't work if I leave it too long. The whole session is useless after 15 minutes.

I've reinstalled twice with the same results. There is a 768 MEG swap file, and I can't see any difference between the 9.04 install (which works fine) and the 9.10 one, which is useless.

Any help would be appreciated.
