View Full Version : [ubuntu] Ubuntu 9.10 + Nvidia drivers = blank screen

I am at my wits end with this, my ubuntu system has basically been down since 9.10 came out. I can install it just fine, but as soon as I install the nvidia drivers I get nothing but a blank screen until I restore or reinstall.

The boot process shows but when the login screen should come up I get nothing. I know how to restore the default configuration, but I want my compiz!

I have gone through several forum posts here (none of which I seem to be able to find now, is something wrong with the search?) with no luck, and have reinstalled/reconfigured literally over a dozen times.

Pentium 4, (32 bit) Nvidia 6800 Ultra. Anyone got any ideas?

I got this message before...

I can't imagine the drivers work in a newer version???

I think that is only when there is a new version of Ubuntu and the drivers haven't been tested yet.
