Minor question about VLC: active windows

Sometimes when I'm watching a playlist of videos on VLC, I'll switch to another app for a bit to type something. However, whenever a new video in the list begins, VLC makes it the active window again, which is really annoying if I happen to type "s", stopping the video.

I know I can disable the hotkeys, but I was just wondering if there was another setting I missed that would stop the window activation entirely.
