I installed 9.10 in VMware player. everything works fine except that the mouse seems to move twice as fast as the actual position on screen. when in the upper left of the screen the location is ok, but when moving to the bottom right (go down menus and such), the location of my pointer gets further and further away from where ubuntu thinks it is.
I found various notes on configuring xorg.conf but they are related more to switching between the underlying OS (XP) and the virtual machine. I have no problems switching back and forth.
Other options suggested to switch from vmmouse to mouse as the device, but sofar nothing has solved the mouse location issue.
I'm getting pretty handy with keyboard shortcuts, but would prefer to use the mouse ;-s
