Recurring discussion. Similar threads/screenshots have been posted at least once a week lately.

I agree these sites are funny for us, but I've seen some of them that won't let you close the page until you agree to download. Easy enough for us, just hit the cancel button. For someone running as admin on windows ........

Some of us are browsing on windows computers, posting the link may not be a good idea, I'm sure there's one idiot who will click it.

It can be hard to teach ordinary users to Ctrl + Shift + Escape and kill the process.

Quite fun finding such sites in other operating systems then XP, as it obviously is fake. Although if you are on XP it is quite obvious you can't open your file browser in your web browser, nor is the eye candy the same. XP has some colors as well, like Silver and Olive.

It's a standard website designed to look like a Windows desktop.

It is not an application. When you "killed" it you closed your browser.

These things pop up on the Internet all over the place because criminals are embedding them everywhere to fool users into installing trojans.

The best way to stop these things from taking over your screen is first to install AdBlock Plus (or equivalent), and second, stay off of questionable websites.
