Dual boot Win7 64-bit and Ubuntu 9.1 32-bit??

Just wanted to know if it was safe to dual boot Win7 64-bit OS and Ubuntu 9.1 32-bit os...
I currently have Win7 home premium and i have Ubuntu 9.1 32bit on a disk.

Is it safe to dual boot with the different bit sizes?
Is there a 64 bit Ubuntu v. 9.1 i should use instead?

It should be safe to dual boot Win7 64-bit and Ubuntu 9.1 32-bit. Neither OS should have any impact on the other. The 64-bit OS will issue some commands to the processor while it is running that the 32-bit system does not use, but when you shut down the 64-bit OS, the processor is left in its original state, ready to run 32- or 64-bit commands.

There is a 64-bit version of Ubuntu 9.10 here (http://releases.ubuntu.com/karmic/). It is labeled as AMD64, but it will work fine on Intel 64-bit processors too.

Ok thanks. So would you suggest using the AMD64 Ubuntu then? I have an AMD64 processor so i guess that makes sense.

If this is your first time using Ubuntu use the 32bit vertion it will run just fine on a AMD 64bit cpu just like how you can run 32bit windows on a 64 bit cpu you just cant use more then 3.25 gb of RAM with a 32bit OS

Its not my first time using it. But I'm no professional at it either. So the AMD64 version is harder to use? Well if it is then as long as the 32 bit one wont do anything weird I'll use that. I have 4GB of ram on my computer though, does that mean i shouldn't use it?

You should use the 64-bit version with that much RAM.
