ive been at this for like two hours now im trying to get a java based chat room to load it keeps telling me that the latest version is not enabled in my browser i went to the java site and downloaded a .bin when i try to open it its not supported (duh) so how can i get java to work im running 9.10 and im going to guess that firefox is the latest version

some kind of jre!!! is what you need try to get a code for in the terminal like this

sudo apt-get install jre

You can install Java with terminal, make sure you closed Firefox first.
Make sure also that you have multiverse active in Software Sources.
Then run:


sudo apt-get install sun-java6-plugin
