A week ago I got my Ubuntu 9.10 Desktop Edition CD in the mail.
I tried installing by booting from the disc but it stalls and gives me
no error messages or any clues about why. Same result for the
Wubi installer from inside Windows.

About a month ago I changed my boot drive over to an NTFS drive
and had to re-install WinXP. It installed without any problems.
I don't have any unusual hardware although my Mobo is old
(Asus CUSL2-C). The bios settings are standard ones. I tried
the Ubuntu install with & without OS Plug'n Play enabled.

I get past the choice of language then all I see is the spinning
circle. I can see there is much activity on the HD. It lasts for
15-20 minutes then stalls and I have to reboot & uninstall it.

I have a dialup connection so I can't DL the alternate CD.

Can you help me get Ubuntu going ?
