Google looks a bit better now, how interesting.

Oh, and on a school computer, that's why these 'shots reek of XP.

Viewing google right now. and screenshot one doesn't look like what I'm looking at there is though a "show options..." what when clicked has more options to refine the search.

I saw this a few weeks ago (on a school computer as well), then it disappeared, to my relief. IMO, it's ugly as sin. It looks just like Google Wave.

I think it would look better with rounded buttons, IMHO.

It must be a thing for IE because my Fire fox is not currently showing it unless it is for signed in GMail users...

Yeah, it must be IE only.

Or Windows only, anybody with Firefox or Chrome on Windows seeing this?

This has been out (http://www.neowin.net/news/main/09/11/25/google-now-testing-new-search-interface) for a while now. Google is testing an updated design for their search pages. It will randomly appear in the wild, or you can test it yourself:

1. Enable cookies

2. Go to www.google.com (http://www.google.com)

3. Paste the following data into the address bar (overwriting the URL):

javascript:void(document.cookie="PREF=ID=20b6e4c2f44943bb:U=4bf292d46faad806:TM=124 9677602:LM=1257919388:S=odm0Ys-53ZueXfZG;path=/; domain=.google.com");

4. Click Refresh

You should now see the updated Google design. To revert back, you can delete the cookie that is created.

I've seen it randomly a few times and I don't use Windows.

Found a couple more links about the upcoming changes, here (http://searchengineland.com/google-streamlines-search-options-30143) and here (http://gizmodo.com/5412305/google-searchs-new-interface-being-tested-now).

I can consistently get this in Firefox in Ubuntu after following the instructions I posted in #8 (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=8583004&postcount=8).

Google does random tests to see how users react on their new designs, just as they did with the fade in/out. They give it to you for a bit, then take it away, and monitor your habits while it's there to decide whether or not it is a good decision.

I'm not sure if this is new, but take a look at the "Search ubuntu.com" below the first ubuntu result:

That's been there for a while.

I guess I didn't notice before because I usually perform very specific searches, using site search string.

That's not it. As has been said before, the new design only appears randomly (unless you follow my instructions).
