mouse pointers installation

My mouse pointers won't install. I've followed all the steps, downloaded the file from gnome-look, extracted the file to my .icons folder and when I look for it in the pointers in customize them in appearances it's just not there.

I tried downloading cursor selection and it sees the pointers but when I click install theme or go to theme folder, nothing happens. What can I do?
