View Full Version : [ubuntu] SMPlayer tearing with AVI files

December 29th, 2009, 07:03 AM
Hi All

So I have SMPlayer running with VDPAU output. For the most part, it works beautiful. I'm able to play my h264 videos without any issue whatsoever. Very happy in this respect. However, I'm having problems when playing AVI files. I see tearing. Not excessive, but enough to make it annoying to watch videos. I tried with XBMC, also using the VDPAU output, and there's basically no tearing when watching AVI files at all. Tried with totem, which doesn't use VDPAU, again, no tearing.

If I turn off desktop effects, the tearing goes away. But I want to be able to use desktop effects and still use SMPlayer to view AVI files.

Using karmic on nvidia ION 330 with latest nvidia drivers from PPA.

Thanks for any help you can offer.
