1) What version of the NVIDIA driver is installed by default when installing via the proprietary drivers app in Jaunty. This answer is critical so I need a correct answer, not an educated guess.

2) Is there a proper procedure to delete/reinstall an NVIDIA driver in Linux (like in Windows)?

3) Is it a mistake to use an older version (6 months old) of the NVIDIA driver package in, say, Karmic? Why or why not?

1 - it depends on which card you have installed. http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?suite=default&section=all&arch=any&searchon=names&keywords=nvidia

2 - I use Hardware Drivers (or whatever it is called in Jaunty) in the system admin menu.

I didn't think it mattered, as long as you're using a recent card the driver's the same? Anywho, it's a GTX 260.
