I have a custom built rig made by COMP USA.

It's running a P4 and has the required system stats to run ubuntu.
I can't get it to boot from a Live CD.

Every time i boot i get something different go wrong. I've tried 9.04 and 9.10 Live CDs neither work. Sometimes i get a terminal and X won't launch. And sometimes it just stops.

I can't explain everything that's happened because i get a different error every time.
The farthest i've gotten so far is very close to the login screen.

” The greeter application appears to be crashing. Attempting to use a different one ”

That's one of many errors and sometimes i just see a random page of code that i don't understand.
This is a older computer that i want to run Ubuntu on because i HATE windows.

I hope someone can help!
Thanks Unix-Man

Have you tried Xubuntu 8.04?

I am trying to use xubuntu 8.04, but it won't even install for me. It just freezes at the loading screen before you choose your location.

Just tried it...

It got stuck at

*configuring network interfaces... [OK]

Now it's just sitting here with a blinking text dot.
