need help with sound

hi i am new to this i have ubuntu 9.10 with all updates i think lol but i am on a home built desktop it has msi k9n2 diamond motherboard it has a SB X-Fi Xtreme Audio and i can not get it to work is there a way to configur it it shows it but i do not know how to config i some one can help thanks .:)

The sound system changed in Ubuntu from 9.04 to 9.10. How does it work with a 9.04 live cd?

i can not get it it to work in 9.10 sound blaster X-fi Xtream it shows up but it works on my hmdi but i don't want it to us that i want it to us the sound card .

is there a way to config it in command .
