I have a couple of Zonbu laptops. Zonbu has effectively gone out of business and hasn't provide maintenance or upgrades for a year. These machines work pretty well for my parents, but things are starting to fall behind, like Flash and Firefox.

My idea is to install Ubuntu on these Everex laptops to replace the Zonbu OS. My concern is that these Everex laptops were decent but low end machines. Not much RAM nor graphics.

Any thoughts on ways I can minimize risks and issues in the process?

Thanks!

Looks like you easily exceed the minimum requirements... as always of course I recommend trying a Live CD first to make sure Ubuntu supports all of your hardware (and that you like it).

Thanks. I agree it feels like it should work ok. Good suggestion on the live CD.
