Installed ubuntu 9.10 64bit on my laptop on Friday and was very pleased with it. Today I installed the 32 bit version that was mailed to me by ubuntu on my desktop.

When I ran the live cd there was no desktop wallpaper, just a black background no matter what I changed it to in the background settings.

I installed anyway and its just the same now that I've installed it. Ive tried changing it in other programs but with no sucess.

I tried opening %gconf.xml but It is blank.

When I log out the desktop wallpaper flashes up for a second just before it logs out.

Thought this might help.
