installation problems

when i restarted my system after installation of karmic,before the grub menu appear it shows:

Error:Sparse file not allowed
Failed to boot default entries
Press any key to continue


It doesnt go further ....wat 2 do??

The quick and unscientific approach would be to reinstall, perhaps with another version.
