I have been running Vista and Ubuntu 9.04 for over a year with very few issues on a dv7 HP Proliant laptop. i would like to upgrade my vista partition to Windows 7 while keeping my ubuntu installation intact. I am looking for some advise as to what the "safest" way to do this is. I have been resistant to do the upgrade to windows 7 from the vista partition because i believe that the new MBR will wipe out GRUB which is what i currently use to select what OS i boot, and i wouldn't know how to recover GRUB should this happen. i have the ISO DVD, and could do a clean install of Windows 7 over vista as well. My number one priority is to keep my Ubuntu partion untouched, as i have lots of customization there.
Does anyone have any pointers on how to do this?
Thank you in advance
