Invest applet won't connect to network

I am having trouble getting Invest 2.26.1 to connect to the network. I use dial-up a good deal of the time (DSL coming soon!) and ifconf shows the ppp interface up and running. I tried using a wireless connection after stopping the ppp daemon and enabling the wireless network; still no luck. I get a rather rude dialogue box telling me Yahoo's servers could not be contacted. The weather applet works fine with both networks.

Is there a really stupid thing I forgot to configure? I've got my stocks configured.

check for typos in your stock list. also, stocks should be in all caps.
