hey there folks, im new here, so howdy
anyways, i have an acer aspire 5738z running windows vista
however, ubuntu seemed interesting to me so i downloaded and burned the iso of ubuntu version 9.10
now the problem arises,..
i tried to run the "wubi" and install ubuntu inside windows, so i could have two operating systems.. it ejected my disk and when i reboot, all i get is a black screen from that..
so i uninstalled it and tried to run the install from the disk during setup
to no avail, that too ran a black screen..
i don't have a clue what to do.. any help from anyone? please?

thanks

Do you get the GRUB Boot menu? (the thing where you choose whtheth you boot Ubuntu or Windows?)

On my Acer aspire one I had a bit of a time installing Karmic. The kernel kept oopsing and panicking if I so much as looked at it sideways. The kernels released after maybe a month ago didn't suffer from this anymore.
Perhaps if you can find an installer with a really recent kernel image it may help.

I did a wubi install this week on exactly the same pc.A friend of mine wanted to have a ubuntu try so I installed it with wubi. That is ,without burning a cd,just wubi exe.Works just fine.Afterwards,he'll probably install a live cd using gparted for a dual boot installation.Wubi tends to "fail" sometimes though.
