I'm new and I don't know if this is the right section or not but I'm having a problem with installing Ubuntu.

I download the Iso, Burn it to a Disk (I've tried using Two types of CD's and a DVD), I then in start up my windows XP. I insert it into the XP and boot from disk.
I then select my language and start installation.
It then stops a 5% which says

Creating ext4 file system for / in partition #1 of SCSI2 (0,0,0) (sda)…

If I restart and select the check CD for errors option thing it scans for a while then says it found 1 corrupt files.
I've tried Re downloading several times and using different disks but it always does the same thing

I'm using Ubuntu 9.10.
and I don't know how to write Computer Specifications so if someone told me what to put in and what order that would be great

Make sure you burn it at a slow speed like 4x. Burning at the default speed will cause problems.

Did you run the checksum to check the integrity of the ISO image before you burnt it?

No, But I just did and the .ISO image is right according to the md5 check sum.
so that wasn't my problem.
any other ideas?

Which media did you use? Perhaps use another brand (if you have an option) to see if that fixes it.

Thanks I'll try ISORecorder.
Disk Utility automatically verified it anyway, and it never got any problems.

As I said earlier I'm using a Mac.
So ISORecorder Wouldn't work on it.
