For my wife and me,it's to prospect and pan for gold all over the south east, and anywhere else we can. And to play music for as many people as we can where ever we throw up our tent :)

So what you're proposing is a thread where I post things I hope I do in the new year but in reality never get around to?

It depends on a few things , like my remission being confirmed and continuing and my progress . But I am making the first steps literally.

Someone had to be a bit of a geek to say it.
Have already got this resolution anyway.

My resolution would be to complete surveying of the local council I live in into openstreetmap (http://www.openstreetmap.org/)
Which is fun, and beneficial to all :)

I'm getting there slowly ...

to attempt to be not so stringy with money since bills have lowered a bit. Tended to be way too careful and not even thinking about splurging.

I have two:

1. Finish a manuscript I have been working on for a long time.
2. Go skydiving.

I want to return to actively blogging more.

I have set a concrete goal for losing weight, the last year in the gym hasn't done much to further this goal (6 kilos down in a year isn't a result I am happy with).

I will work on my writing project.

I will also spend less time on these forums, I feel like I am wasting an awful lot of time here and not getting enough personal satisfaction out of it.

I will make a more concerted effort to log the effects of my medication and the progression of my illness as a whole. I feel like the last year it has become much worse but I was to lazy or perhaps to frightened to honestly collect the data.

I would like to attempt brewing beer at least once.

I would like to read at least one new book a month, I used to read a lot but have let it fall to the wayside in favor of audio books since those I can enjoy while at the gym or in the bus.

I will dedicate more time to spend with my friends, as I might be leaving the country this year I would like to see them as more and make some memories.

To move back to the coast so I can start surfing again. (not sure what coast yet)

- with surfing comes health, so hopefully I can get back into shape and lose this huge gut that I've got now.

Use a treadmill. It's easier to stick to running when you can watch TV while doing it. Or even if you don't, just the fact that you don't have to go out and run (=being lazy) and you can just get off your bed and go run makes it easier. Having said that, I'm a lazy yet fit person. :)

i dont' have any. if you can't achieve what you want at any time of the year, you're most likely not going to achieve any new year's resolutions. it doesn't make sense to wait until the next year to do something. talk about proscrastinating.

I don't decide to do things impressive enough for me to count them as ‘resolutions’, so here are my new year plans :P

Learn Ruby / Ruby on Rails
Learn Python + Django
Investigate M. R. James' ghost stories
Start buying CDs for my completely pirated music collection (conscience finally seems to be nagging me…)

Mine are...

* To convert as many people to Windows 7 as I can.

* To stop using Linux because Best Buy told me so.

* To turn myself into the police because using Linux is illegal.

* To stop crying about privacy online and give all my info out freely to anyone who asks.

* To finally help all those people who keep sending me emails about the money they are trying to transfer to another bank, it won't cost me much and I will get a lot more in return.

* To be more trusting and answer those emails that tell me I won the Yahoo lottery, the Microsoft lottery, etc. I could use the money.

* To Finally admit to myself that torrents are evil and that I should burn in hell for using them.

* To stop making stupid posts (Actually, I might keep that one, lol)

I never make New Years resolutions. They are a waste of time. If I didn't do what ever in the past year then I am probably not going to do it in the new year either. :lolflag:

I agree.

I set the goal of staying off all dairy products a couple of weeks ago. As they have caused my bad (ldl) cholesterol level to become too high.

Sticking to that goal will most likely give me a far better chance of successfully living my life longer & healthier.

Cheese is good, but it's not worth the potential damage that it would very likely do to my brain &/or cardiovascular system.

Without goal setting I don't think I would be getting out of the wheelchair and attempting a 160+km bike ride.

Also goal setting has given me a successfull life.

Why lie to yourself? Here are mine:

To eat more Hostess Cupcakes
Watch more TV
Play more video games
Frivolously spend some money instead of penny pinching

I read some statistics that said people who set resolutions are 10x more likely to attain their goals than people who don't. After 6 months, 46% of resolvers were still maintaining compared to 4% of nonresolvers.

Its a very simple game and I have help on the graphical front :P

Actually, I've started it already, so yeah the resolution is to accomplish it in 2010. How much "polish" it will have is more difficult to answer.
