View Full Version : [other] Persistent USB Crunchbang installation doesn't let me change WM's

I've got a persistent Crunchbang installation on my flash drive, but there's a slight problem I'm having. I just installed IceWM on there, but when I went to log out and select IceWM for my session, it still logged back in with Openbox, ignoring the fact that I specifically asked for IceWM. Is there a way to force Crunchbang to honor such a request when persistently installed on a flash drive?

It would be a lot nicer if there was a lightweight English-language variant of Ubuntu with IceWM as the default window manager, but since there isn't, I thought this would be the next best thing, but it's not cooperating...

Merry Christmas, y'all!
Fred

Hello,
There is an IceWM+ubuntu based distro: Spri Linux, formerly IceBuntu.
See http://www.sprilinux.com/
(homepage)
Unfortunately, development was recently suspended; it uses 9.04.
Or, if you don't mind switching to another distro, AntiX (http://antix.mepis.org/index.php/Main_Page)
is a minimal Mepis (Debian) with IceWM installed.
I never tried Crunchbang myself; I generally consider the WM before downloading, so I only saw Openbox once (in NimbleX).
Hope this helps!
