Hi All,

First post here!!

I run Ubuntu on a couple of laptops and find it incredible. I'm definitely a convert from windows!!

Having trouble with a family members old laptop though...
When i boot from the install cd to try Ubuntu it takes forever to boot but eventually it does. once booted it is then very very slow.
If i try to install it seems to kick itself off ok but then stops and boots to cd mode again. I've tried the latest Ubuntu release aswell as the netbook remix and both have the same problem.

Attached is a pic of what is seen before it fails to install and boot to cd instead.

You can probably tell I'm not highly technical with linux so would appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Cheers. Oh and Merry Christmas!

I'm not exactly sure what the problem is but I would suggest you to try the alternate (http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloadmirrors) install or if you can get internet on the laptop and if your willing to fiddle a bit the minimal (http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/minimal) install.
