My laptop specifications:
Acer Aspire 5738
Display adapter: Mobile Intel(R) 45 Express Chipset Family (Microsoft Corporation Prerelease WDDM 1.1)
Monitor: Generic PnP monitor
I tried to install ubuntu 9.10 using livecd. After the graphical boot menu, the screen went blank and remained blank. I am sure that gnome desktop has loaded as I was able to hear the gnome login sound but the screen remained blank.
I had the same problem with ubuntu 9.04 and also. But kubuntu 9.04 installed without any problems.
