Alt-tab locked in some apps.

Hi, I have been having some issues with window focus in ubuntu karmic (I guess it happens in every version). If I play a game like say, openarena, the game window gets the "focus" and I am unable to release it. If I'd like to move the window or go to firefox I can't do it. Is there a way to solve this problem? Can I force alt-tab or something like that if you catch my drift?
