I'm trying to install ubuntu onto a system which only supports booting from the hdd. I've discovered this laptop's cdrom is shot, and the bios doesn't support booting from usb. It's currently running winxp and I've got ubuntu installed through wubi. I thought by doing this it would give me the option to install ubuntu as the main OS like it does with a livecd. I don't believe I have this option, or don't know where to find it. Any suggestions?

I would install it on another laptop or in a 2.5 in external drive case, Then put it back in my laptop.

You mean remove the hard drive, put it in another machine, and install it there?

Are there any other options which wouldn't require this hardware setup?
