Upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10....9.04 was very fast, 9.10 is very slow

I recently upgraded, and 9.10 runs really slow on my machine. Granted my machine is about 3-4 years old. But, 9.04 ran great on it. Is 9.10 just that much more of a RAM hog?

Should I go back to 9.04, or are there some things that I can do to make 9.10 run faster (without upgrading my hardware)?
