View Full Version : [ubuntu] HELP! Upgraded to Karmic x64 and I'm having daily crashes!

I've upgraded to Karmic about two days ago from a flawless Jaunty install and I've already had two freezes/crashes. The first one completely froze both the mouse and keyboard, and the one that happened today first gave me graphical errors and then a freeze. Both times I was just browsing the web. I'm using Karmic x64 and an NVIDIA graphics card.

I don't know if this is relevant, but the only change I've made in those two days is loading the following string as a startup application: nvidia-settings --load-config-only ... I only did this because after the upgrade, the NVIDIA X Server Settings didn't automatically load my custom brightness settings.

I've been using Ubuntu for better part of a year, but I'm clueless when it comes to troubleshooting. Please help. Jaunty was perfect for me, and this crap makes me want to go back... to Windows Vista.

And doing a fresh install of Karmic = not helpful.

Thanks in advance
