Hey guys!
Very weird problem here.
I have rebooted my ubuntu (which I haven't done for a long time, during which I of course was installing various software). And I found that now all over my desktop is a weird transparent menu. It is sort of cute, but I don't want it.

Also it seems to override my settings, since I own an ASUS laptop with an ambient sensor. I had to edit special system files to turn it off since it renders the screen unreadably dim. And it seems to override my settings and now the sensor is switched on and I can hardly use my laptop in a room with no overhead lamps.

Sometimes it would not load and then all my settings are fine, but lately no matter how much I reboot it is there.

I read up, it is not a Firefox extension, not an Opera extension and it certainly wasn't there before. I am attaching a screenshot.

that's "netbook-launcher", look in synaptic you can uninstall it from there.
