kubuntu 9.10 installer crashes

Hi! As the title says the kubuntu installer keeps crashing on me! I really want to give kubuntu a try since KDE 4 is so sexy! The live cd works fine (I can boot into it and use the live desktop) All my hardware is supported, but when installing it hangs when configuring APT. If I hit the skip button it goes to the live desktop and reports an installer crash! can anyone help me!?!

Okay, I got it to install, but now it boots up into just the command line. When I try the command "startkde" it says: $display is not set or cannot connect to the X server. When I try the command "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" It asks for my password, then... nothing. It just returns to the prompt with no errors. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Try editing your X display and check your videocard if supported and have its right drivers.
