Lucid is too big for my CD's (650s?) so I downloaded the .ISO to my running 8.04 machine. Now, I'd like to upgade from it. I figured out how to mount it as a loop device, but now I'm stuck. IOW, I'd like 'do-release-upgrade' to read from the loop device instead of the (slower) network wireless card.

How?

Thanks!

I'll admit I'm confused by the use of 'lucid' in do-release-upgrade:

extracting 'lucid.tar.gz'
authenticate 'lucid.tar.gz' against 'lucid.tar.gz.gpg'

Aren't I really upgrading to karmic, and isn't Lucid the *next* upgrade, in 2010?

Anyone know what's up with that?

You can perhaps try to generate an iso image and get it into a pendrive and try to boot from USB, if your bios supports it.
