I'm a recent convert to the Linux flavour of Ubuntu and I don't think I may go back to using Windows XP & 7! I have it on my laptop but it's not without some problems! I was reading and I know that the card reader doesn't work on most Toshiba units but what does concern me the most on this unit is getting the proper video drivers and the wireless to work! The video does display in the correct resolution but it's the same lag I noticed when I put Ubuntu on a desktop with a SIS 650 Onboard Display. If anyone could take some pity on a recent convert that would be exceptional and I look forward to the suggestions!

Thanks!

A variant of what was originally suggested ended up working beautifully! Now the only thing is the Wireless....any suggestions?

Thanks!

Glad it worked! Just trying to point you in the right direction.
What wireless card do you have?

Actually it was a pebkac error on my part as the wireless switch that I didn't even see was turned off LOL! Everything from the display, sound, wireless, LAN seem to work except for the hotkeys and the card reader. I did notice that was a universal problem with most Toshiba's and ubuntu's but if it can be fixed that would be awesome!

Thanks again!

Take a look here about assigning your hotkeys:

This might be a little easier:

As far as the card reader I'm still looking.
