hey:
I remember not long ago there was a project for collage linux. A ubuntu version for graphics, but I can't find it in the project section anymore. Anyone knows what happened to it. I was really looking forward to it.

Sorry to bring up a dead topic, but i am curious as to why too. I tried to find the link I originally found to Collage Linux, because I added a topic to the forum, just to find out less than a day later, that it seems the project died off.

Well here is the forums just in case, I found it on the third party post at the top of this forum:

I just read the link above and it sounds alot like:

Dreamlinux Studio Edition
http://www.dreamlinux.com.br/english/index.html

the music orientation sounds like Musix
http://www.musix.org.ar/en/index.html

I have tried both of these and have them both on live CD...Dreamlinux is pretty awesome, and Musix Gnu+Linux has so much stuff, I think you would have to be a musician to appreciate.

There is another project here with Ubuntu; Ubuntu Studio

This seems to be more active

Thats cool for the musician or the video editor, but hat about graphic and web designers? What I like about Collage was the idea of having all artistic elements together.

Even if it is not a distro per say, but centralize tutorials and how tos, possibly have community ideas and suggestions to bring to developers and what not. i think it is sad that the project died....

I think it should be reformed or recreated in some way to focus on the artistic elements.

Any reasons why it's dead? I thought it sounded cool too, but it slipped my mind after a while.
I only play around with graphics, and only when I'm bored, and have a cool editor.
Still would be interested though.

Well it sounds like a nice idea. But is that wise to do so to make something like that?? Since there are others as well who may want a set for something else like databasing with Oracle, web designers, or using different kinds of compilers to make and optimize their source codes themselves with sun Studio 11. http://developers.sun.com/sunstudio/download. There would be too many people asking for different things for something like that. Don't get me wrong if you want to do something like that for ubuntu strictly. Something like this right now is fine for my taste.
