I just saw the movie Avatar in 3D. It is worth watching. Dont miss the 3D in cinema. They did a fantastic job with special effects.

For me it takes half an hour or so to just adjust the brightness and exposure levels of a photo in photoshop. I am wondering how they made this great graphical effects. It is really great. You should see this movie! Hats off to James Cameron!

Agreed :)

I convinced my girlfriend to come out and see this with me and she and I absolutely loved it. Great story, good acting and awesome effects.

Just hope they fixed the DRM issues (http://torrentfreak.com/drm-fiasco-ruins-james-camerons-avatar-3d-preview-091217/)

Today the cinema was so full. I wanted to see it in London BFI IMAX (http://www.bfi.org.uk/whatson/bfi_imax), the UK's biggest screen (20m height [nearly 5 double decker buses] and 26m wide). But all the shows are booked there until January 4th except for some very early morning shows.

I haven't seen yet, but as far as the trailer shows, looks pretty amazing. I have read some comments that this is the best Cameron movie. I wonder if it will beat Titanic in the box office.

What animation software did they use to make the movie? Renderman, Maya, Blender, all, none, etc.

This website (http://www.webkitchen.be/2009/11/26/a-peek-behind-the-scenes-of-avatar/) is claiming that the Avatar team has used Adobe products.

Lots of talented people working on very specific tasks, lots of money, lots of very powerful rendering farms (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Render_farm).

Have you seen the CGI of 2012? They are mind blowing.

Just got back from the theatre! Awesome idea, incredible special effects in the 3D version!

Commentary (caution: don't read further if you haven't seen the movie yet!)

The Aboriginal (indigenous) theme is wicked awesome. It kinda makes a political statement of sorts about what extreme avarice can drive people to. Cool environmental message, too.

A cross between The Matrix and Independence Day (where humans are the bad guys invading another world). Really cool. I'd pay to see it again!

I really liked it. 100% predictable, as in there is not a single surprise in the whole movie. It was a lot of fun though. Very reminiscent of dances with wolves.
