View Full Version : [ubuntu] how do I get google desktop looking program for ubuntu

It looks like google desktop but i dont think it is. I've seen pictures of it. Theres a large clock at the top then there are bars displaying cpu usage and RAM usage and so on. If anyone could tell me how to get this i would greatly appreiate it:)

You think like google gadgets that are screenlets, and the most similar app with google desktop is gnome-do

Both apps screenlets and gnome-do you can find in Ubuntu Software Center

conky looks older this looks kinda new im not sure if its conky

I think you mean you want google gadgets.
I belive it is avalable in the ubuntu software center. (or add/remove in 9.04)

you can get it this way too:


sudo apt-get install google-gadgets-gtk

If you want google desktop (the seach engine) get it here:
http://desktop.google.com/linux/ (http://desktop.google.com/linux/)

Yes if you look better it is written conky on your screenshot in area where is the ram usage of open apps but conky have many skins

Yes, that's conky. It looks the way its config file tells it to look.

I second the suggestion that it's Conky. Conky can be configured to look like this.

It is not very easy in screenlets you have one screenlet which looks like conky and it is easy to use, just few clicks
