Naturally, it's the Internet! A few million pages and download locations of note, with billions of other sites referencing them. ^^

How do I install one of these? I wanted to try "Moomex", and it downloaded a tarfile with a bunch of stuff, but when I went to system->preferences->appearance->install, it didn't recognize any of the included files as a "Theme package"...?

Remember kids, be wary of stuff from gnome-look. If it has an installer that asks for your password it's probably not sensible to use it.

Just right-click anywhere on the desktop, select change desktop baground, click the themes tab, then just drag your tar.gz file into the window.

Oh, look. Macchiato is on there. However, it's a screenshot of an old version of it. :/
