There are plenty of non-copyrighted movies to be had via bit-torrent..The best client I've found is Deluge (in the repos)

store purchase
this or just rent it

now to answer what the op wants: bitcomet is not just another bittorrent client? if so you can use transmission that is aleady installed in ubuntu, or alternatives like deluge or vuze.

If you want to turn away from your illegal days then check out netflix.

I don't download movies because I don't watch them really... If I'm gonna watch a movie I'll go to the cinema.

I don't, I usually buy them on DVD, I never want to deal with Netflix or anything of the like.

Online, I use Hulu, especially in light of the fact that it hosts Mystery Science Theater 3,000 episodes now :)

Physically, I purchase DVDs from one of two places; Barnes and Noble (membership pays for itself quickly :D ) and eBay. In the case of the latter, I've acquired seasons 2 through 11 of the Simpsons for less than retail of $20 US.

I haven't watched a film I got from anywhere for ages. I mostly watch them at my sister's as her fiancé is a film nut and was a film student, they might have more films than your local video store (this is of course an extreme exaggeration).
I usually buy them at a computer shop, but never for my self... always as gifts.

Lots of good stuff on archive.org, but you may have to dig for it.

Indeed. Archive.org (http://www.archive.org/details/movies) has some real gems, if you're willing to spend some time looking.
