koala gets stuck during boot ocassionally

my upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10 gave me a laptop that very rarely boots successfully the first time.it stucks with a black screen after boot menu.i have to kill it and restart again.and it always boots properly the second time.am I the only one with this problem?how do i fix it?

If cold boots fail and warm boots work, see if your vendor has a BIOS update; that might help. Otherwise it may not get better until 10.04 Lucid Lynx.
