View Full Version : [ubuntu] Struggling with graphics cards and HDMI on 9.1

Hi all

I'm trying to install 9.1 on an old dual core P4 machine with AGP graphics I/F.

The purpose of the machine is to play music, show pictures, and play DVDs on the TV. I don't want to replace the machine as I've spent money getting it "silent"

First try was with a Radeon 7500 graphics card. All worked perfectly on a monitor but when connected to the TV by HDMI I got massive overscan so that much of the picture was missing. Tried looking through the archives and this seems to be a common problem but the various fixes didn't seem to apply/work.

Next try was with a Nvidia Geforce 6600LE - Ubuntu crashes completely during the install.

Any suggestions for an AGP card that will install and has drivers that allow proper control of the scan? This all works using both cards in XP but I really want to leave Bill.

Thanks

Peter
